Terms Of Service
Last updated: 14 November 2025 Business Name: The Equine Method Owner: Jen Nash Contact Email: info@theequinemethod.co.uk Website: www.theequinemethod.co.uk
⸻
- Introduction
These Terms of Service outline the agreement between you (the client) and The Equine Method regarding the delivery of behavioural consultancy, coaching, and training services. By booking or participating in any session, you agree to the terms described below. Services are provided by Jen Nash, an Equine Behaviour Consultant and BHS Accredited Professional Coach.
⸻
- Services Offered
The Equine Method offers equine behavioural consultations, training support, behaviour modification planning, and coaching—both in person and remotely. All services are provided in line with the professional and ethical standards set out by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) and the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC).
⸻
- Veterinary Referral Requirement
In accordance with APBC and ABTC guidelines, all behavioural consultations must take place on veterinary referral. This ensures that any medical factors contributing to behaviour are considered. A referral form from your registered veterinary surgeon is required or direct contact must have taken place between The Equine Method and the veterinary practice, either via phone, email, or text message, prior to the first session.
⸻
- Booking and Payment
Initial behavioural consultations must be secured through pre-payment at the time of booking. No initial session will be confirmed until payment has been received. All subsequent sessions are invoiced post-session, with payment required within the timeframe stated on the invoice. Failure to settle invoices may result in cancellation of future appointments.
It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that any yard managers, landowners, or facility providers have granted permission for behaviour sessions or training to be conducted on-site. If permission is not obtained in advance, the session may be cancelled and charges may still apply.
⸻
- Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled session will incur no charge and may be rescheduled.
Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours in advance will be charged at 50% of the session fee.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or failure to attend, will be charged the full session fee.
Refunds are not provided for missed appointments or late cancellations unless required by law. If The Equine Method must cancel for any reason, clients will be offered an alternative date or a full refund if rescheduling is not possible.
⸻
- Client Responsibilities
Clients must provide accurate and up-to-date information about their horse’s history, behaviour, and health. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that their horse is fit to participate in behavioural work and that any veterinary restrictions or instructions are followed. Clients must also provide a safe and appropriate environment for sessions and follow all safety guidelines provided by the practitioner. Any inappropriate, unsafe, or abusive behaviour may result in the immediate termination of the session, with no refund issued.
⸻
- Risk and Liability
Working with horses, particularly those exhibiting behavioural concerns, carries inherent risks. By participating in sessions, clients accept full responsibility for their own safety, the safety of their horse, and any persons present during the session. While all reasonable care will be taken, The Equine Method cannot accept liability for injury, damage, or loss resulting from behavioural advice, training implementation, or unforeseen circumstances.
⸻
- Confidentiality and Data
Client information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and our published Privacy Policy. Behavioural reports, notes, or assessments may be shared with referring veterinary surgeons and, where appropriate, other professionals involved in your horse’s care, but only with your consent or where legally required. Your personal and case data is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
⸻
- Intellectual Property
All reports, training plans, written materials, and resources provided by The Equine Method are the intellectual property of Jen Nash. These are intended for the client’s personal use only and must not be copied, distributed, or shared without written permission.
⸻
- Behavioural Outcomes
Behaviour change is a process, and while The Equine Method uses science-based, ethical methods, outcomes depend on many factors including consistency, environment, and any underlying medical issues. Therefore, no guarantees of specific results can be made. Clients are expected to follow agreed behaviour plans and apply guidance consistently between sessions for the best chance of progress.
⸻
- Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, please contact Jen Nash directly at info@theequinemethod.co.uk. Every effort will be made to resolve concerns promptly and professionally. As an Associate Member of the APBC, I operate in line with their Code of Conduct. You may submit a formal complaint through the APBC if necessary via their Complaints Procedure: https://www.apbc.org.uk/code-of-conduct-and-complaints-procedure
⸻
- Updates to These Terms
These terms may be updated at any time to reflect changes in business operations, legal requirements, or professional standards. The most current version will always be available on our website. Continued use of services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
